Review: Britax B-Ready Stroller
I have gone through many strollers over the last 4 years, but not one of them has been able to satisfy my (and my child’s) every need… until now! When Britax unveiled their brand-new B line of luxury strollers, the one that caught my eye immediately was the B-Ready. After testing it out for the last couple of months, I’m pleased to announced that not only is it the smoothest ride I’ve ever experienced with a double, it is also the easiest to use and the most convenient. The B-Ready starts off as a single and can then be turned into a double with the add-on kit (sold separately). Even if you have twins, this stroller can also accommodate twins in a variety of different ways.
Because of this huge perk, the Britax B-Ready is a great choice for parents looking for an all-in-one modular stroller, that will not only work with one child, but will also grow with your family! The stroller has over 14 possible configurations and can also accommodate a wide range of infant car seats with the included car seat adaptors.
Out of the box, this is a nice, solid stroller with quality that can be seen and felt immediately. Assembly was very straight-forward and didn’t take me anymore than 10 minutes. The top seat is completely reversible, so that the child can either face the world or face you. Once they get older, you would most likely have them facing out, but I love having the option to switch it around as I prefer to face the kids when they are babies. The seat also reclines into 3 different positions, so if your child falls asleep you can gently recline them down.
The canopy is nice and large and features both a sun-visor and ventilation window (with magnetic closure, no more noisy velcro!) for hot days. For trips to the mall or grocery store, moms and dads will appreciate the very roomy storage basket and removable storage bag with insulated drink holders – perfect for juice boxes or sippy cups!
As one of the leading manufacturers of car seats, safety is always number one for Britax. First of all, the 5-point harness has a no re-thread and is fully adjustable. There is also a removable adjustable handle height with comfort grip that keeps your child from leaning forward. I assumed this would be better for smaller children, but my eldest really liked the bar and didn’t want to stroll without it.
The parking brake is very smooth and has an indicator that changes color from green to red. When you press down on the brake, a red square appears, letting you know that you are parked. Press it again to release and away you go!
Now, lets talk about the ride. The comfort level is very high, not just for the child, but for the parents as well. Because of our height difference (I’m 5’5 and my husband is 6′), taking turns pushing a stroller is always a drag for my husband because he has to hunch down in order to push the kids. To his delight, the B-Ready has an adjustable handle height with comfort grip. Pushing the B-Ready is a pleasure thanks to the comfort ride 4-point suspension. The ride is very smooth and the wheels turn on a dime – even when pushing two children! Pushing the stroller on gravel, bumpy terrain and playground sod was doable and we didn’t have any issues thanks to the 11′ rear wheels and 7 1/2′ front air filled tires, but I would love to see Britax come out with a ‘Sport’ version or jogging version with a more rugged wheel for rocky roads.
The B-Ready is recommended for 6+ months to 55 lbs, but if using the car seat adaptors for the front seat, or the Lower Infant Car Seat Adapter ($79.99) allows you to take your newborn/s along for the ride as well. The 2nd Seat
($149.99), can be used from birth up to 35lbs, and comes with a 4-position seat recline, large canopy with ventilation window and 5-point harness with 3 harness heights.
The beauty of this seat is that you don’t have to remove it before folding up your stroller! On the down-side the weight does go up considerably (from 28 lbs to 36 lbs) and takes a bit of muscle to lift or place in your trunk. You can remove the seat, very easily, if you prefer to separate the accessory from the stroller to lighten your load.
In terms of accessories, Britax thought of everything with the B-Ready. The stroller comes with an adult cup-holder (that is strategically placed – not too low and not too high), a rain cover, Click & Go Britax Chaperone infant car seat adapters and a removable storage bag with insulated drink holders.
All in all, the B-Ready has officially topped my list as the best travel system/all-in-one single/double stroller I have ever tested! Priced at $499.99, this is a higher-priced investment that will take you from infancy to toddlerhood for not one, but two children. If I added up all the money I spent on strollers over the years, this would have saved me a pretty penny had it been out 4 years ago!
