Have you ever seen a total lunar eclipse? It is an incredible site that occurs when the Earth is directly between the moon and the sun. Once the eclipse occurs, the moon turns a glowing orange-red for just over an hour. We wanted to share the details with you all, as this is something older children would most likely want to be a part of. It is also the last time a lunar eclipse will be visible in North America, until April 2014 and the very first time a lunar eclipse has fallen on the winter solstice since 1638!
