Review: Keurig B60 Special Edition Gourmet Single Cup Home-Brewing System
Ok, ok, I’ll admit it – I’m officially in love with a coffee maker. Keurig sent me their B60 Special Edition Gourmet Single-Cup Home-Brewing System
to try out several weeks ago and I can honestly say it has changed the way my husband and I go about our morning. I’m a Starbucks fan personally and my husband, well he prefers Tim Hortons (a Canadian coffee addiction for those of you not familiar with the franchise). Lately, with our business in it’s peak season, I have really depended on my daily caffeine fix. Instead of making coffee or tea the traditional way, while on the run we tend to stop off and pick up our beverages along the way. Unfortunately it tends to add up and costs a pretty penny.
The Keurig® single-cup brewing systems will seriously change the way you brew coffee forever and thanks to their huge variety of flavours, popular brands and drink choices, there is something for everyone! Keurig has made it easy to both choose and enjoy the coffees, teas and even hot chocolate that you love! There is no need to grind beans, measure coffee or buy filters as everything is touch and go. This is all done thanks to their specially designed K-Cups.
When I received my Keurig Special Edition Coffee Maker, it came with a box of sample coffees to try out. I also received several boxes of my daughter’s favourite Celestial Seasonings teas, specialty coffees and samples of Green Mountain Coffee’s brand new Iced Coffees and Teas. The process is super easy and takes under 1 minute.
All you do is place your K-Cup in the system, close the lid, and then select whether you would like a small (6 oz), medium (8 oz), or large (10 oz). That’s it! As you can see I took pictures of the Celestial Seasonings Black and Lemon Iced tea as an example. Instead of brewing into a coffee mug, you brew over ice.
Keurig® single-cup brewing systems make it easy to choose, brew and enjoy the coffee you love, while eliminating the hassle of grinding beans, measuring coffee, handling filters or cleaning up, by using their unique K-Cups. You simply put the little pod inside the machine and then close the lid. The interior handle punctures the top of the cup allowing hot water to flow through, producing a quick cuppa. There is no mess, no coffee grinds lying around and no pot to wash.
As you can see, I took pictures of the new Brew Over Ice product from Celestial Seasonings. It really did make the perfect cup of Iced Tea! I have a friend from the South who simply adored Celestials Southern Sweet Tea. She said it was “Perfect in every way”. My girls love Celestial Seasonings teas and have been drinking their Sleepy Time and fruit flavoured herbal teas with relish! I have brewed these over ice as well on hot days and sweetened with a touch of agave for hot days by the pool. Such a lifesaver for my impatient little princesses.
Coffee is excellent every time as well. There is no such thing as a ‘weak’ cup of coffee with this system, in fact, you can purchase a wide variety of stronger more robust coffees that will really knock your socks off! My husband prefers green tea as his beverage of choice and was able to reuse his K-Cup up to 3 times before it showed any signs of going weak. I wouldn’t recommend reusing the coffee cups though as they are really only good for 1 cup.
This system is pretty much flawless and works like a charm. It also looks gorgeous on your countertop! For those of you who would really prefer to use your own coffees and don’t like the idea of throwing the K-Cup away, Keurig has designed the “My K-Cup”, a reusable coffee filter that can be used time and time again.
There are over 200 K-Cup varieties to choose from, whether you are looking for teas, coffees or even hot cocoas, there is something for everyone! Some of the major brands include Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Diedrich, Gloria Jean’s, Timothy’s World Coffee, Emeril’s, Van Houtte, Wolfgang Puck, Newman’s Own Organic, Coffee People, Caribou, Tully’s, Celestial Seasonings, Bigelow, Twinings Tea and Café Escapes.
You can purchase the B60 Brewer, K-Cups and all sorts of accessories through Amazon.com or directly through Green Mountain Coffee. Canadians can purchase Timothy’s K-Cups directly through the company in Toronto by visiting their online store.
