Marithé et François Girbaud Kidswear & Junior Fall/Winter 2010 Preview

Marithé+François Girbaud children’s collection for Fall/Winter 2010 has taken the “Washdelux” theme of the adult line and integrated it into their kid’s lineup. The them is in response to the desire to “wash” away the entrenched notions of luxury and begin writing a new story.

Navy Delux

This one breaks all the rules and barriers by indulging in all kinds of variations.
Gray denim can be worn up or down with it’s ultra-“used” look, by pairing it with the rock’n’roll leather jacket feminized with floral studs.

The quilted jackets are light-as-air and take on A-line shapes with a surprising sense of volume. Engraved “coat of arms” buttons and M+FG emblems subvert the uniform of young sailors on leave in a wool pea coat.

Most of the materials are flowing and silky: pigment-printed shorn velvet is contrasted with chambray or fluid jerseys. A shower of multicolored stripes refreshes the autumnal knits: in the accessories, in finshing details on the cardigans…as a joyful sunray.

In celebration for autumn, delicate petals will appear on zipper dresses in dotted swiss percale or glossy chambray. Gray comes in every shade, matte or shiny, highlighted with peacock blue and perky touches of hydrangea pink and mint green.

Red Delux

To brighten up the winter, a range of warm luminescent colors, from orange to vermillion, is blended with a plush “crafty grey.” Matte and shiny effects merge for eye-catching clashes. Silk sways and the knits twinkles with sprinkled beads.

The sweaters can transform into warm and comforting coats, brightened up with Lurex accents.

Black Delux

This is Marithé+François Girbaud definition of Delux. Their Black Delux offers a new “casual deluxe” style by blurring the boundaries between masculine and feminine. The stripe so often found on men’s suits appears on deconstructed jackets, worn over easygoing tapered pants.

Denim rocks out with studded finishing, Lurex tops, piqué stones or silver prints and marble effects shimmer like shards of glass on fitted denims.

Flounced necklines on feminine blouses with flounced necklines, bias checks tailored on a crinkled top, mini-me “Washdelux” and “Boyfriend series”tee-shirts and there is of course the boyfriend jeans!

Chic blacks and whites are emboldened by gleaming vermillion.

Accessories such as braided or lurex bonnets, pompoms, gloves turning to fingerless mitten, stripes echoing on scarves and tights, finish off the outfits.

Many of the pieces can be purchased now through Childrensalon, however expect more to come in during the following weeks.
