We have one more month of school until the kids are out for the summer and I’ve already begun making plans, scheduling trips and trying to figure out how I’m going to get all of my work done in between. The summer is one of the most hectic, insanely busy seasons for us as it happens to be peak season for our home business. Sadly, it tends to interfere with summer plans and activities as my husband and I are always working. In order to get through the next 4 months we usually have some sort of game plan in place.

Disclosure: Gap provided us with samples to facilitate this feature. All bragging rights and adoration of Diane von Furstenberg and Gap are mine alone.
Last month we showed you the latest from DVF for GapKids. Everything is so joyful, bright and chic. Diane von Furstenberg has taken inspiration from Africa for this collection so you’ll notice plenty of color and asymmetrical designs. It’s such a refreshing welcome into spring and summer. Goodbye winter! Finally!
My daughter and I took a trip to Turks & Caicos last week and most of her clothes that she packed for our little vacation came from this new collection. We did everything from lounging by the pool, to running in the sand and experiencing the island on our very own private adventure. Even though they are oh so chic and stylish, the clothes held up very well and withstood my daughter’s active spirit.
Here’s a look at what she wore: [click to continue…]

After watching My America with Lisa Ling last year, I was filled with a whole new respect for military moms. I can’t even imagine the stress expectant military moms go through while their husbands serve our country! St. Louis-based non-profit Operation Shower is helping to ease the stress with support from Birdies for the Brave® and baby bedding company Carousel Designs. Together they have launched an amazing nationwide Showers in a Box program that provides “mini-showers” in a box to military moms-to-be.

My friend is a genius. No really. She is. Elina Furman, is the founder and editor of A-List Mom and A-List Travel as well as a designer. She recently debuted a crib bedding collection with Oliver B and has previously designed baby sleepers and layettes for Magnificent Baby. Her most recent endeavour is actually a solution to a problem that many of us have. As a mom to a five-year-old Lego lover, she knows first hand how those little blocks can affect your storage space and bank account, so she decided to launch Pleygo.com, a Netflix-like service for Lego sets which provides kids and adults an unlimited access to the Lego universe at a minimal cost.

Photography is my way of telling stories. I take photos of pretty such everything and anything, whether it be during our travels or the daily happenings around our home. Capturing an image by tapping your finger on a screen or pushing a button is nothing short of pure magic. Going back on those photos and reliving those memories? Priceless.
Disney recently released a new (free) app that helps you to create your own stories in minutes. It connects to your photo album on your iPhone or iPod and pulls them in, automatically sorting by date. If you prefer to insert your own photos and mix it up, you can do that as well. I created my first story last week over on Disney Baby where I documented a local adventure I took with my son.
Last week, my middle daughter and I took an adventure of our own in the beautiful Turks & Caicos islands. Here’s a sneak peek at our trip!

Check your children’s loft and bunk beds! Lea Industries and CPSC issued a recall including 59,200 beds in the U.S. and 4,200 in Canada. The beds were recalled after discovering that the bed’s side mattress support rails can break, posing a fall hazard. There have been 22 reports of incidents involving the recalled beds in the U.S. since 2009 and one in Canada, with two injuries reported. In a 2009 incident in Madison, Wisconsin, an 11-year-old girl was placing a fitted sheet on the top bunk when the child, mattress and bed supports collapsed on her 6-year-old sister in the bed below. The 6 year old was treated at a hospital emergency department for a head injury involving a cut to her face.
